This design was inspired by the technical aspect of each of the books. "A Brief History of Time" discusses creating the theorem on black holes which involved a lot of math and numbers. "Looking Backward" is about a utopian world 113 years in the future, and the aspect of time in general. Each of these novels deals with numbers in a different sense which is why my first design focuses on that aspect. I was inspired by the movement of code and its dynamic feel.
This second design artistically represents both a black hole and hypnosis. A swirl is typically used to represent both. The first lines of each book are what make up the swirl. I made two iterations for "A Brief History of Time".
